Vogue 7481

Well, despite my vowing that I was shunning jeans from my momiform, I find myself in Pattern Review’s “Build Better Jeans” class led by Shannon Gifford. Naturally, two classes in, I find myself about 8 classes behind, but the material we’re getting in class is fabulous, and will allow me to create great looking pants with jeans-styling.

Even though I’m sick of wearing jeans every day (which is what prompted me to create my “Garden Party” swap this summer), I do like the close fit of jeans, and I find the top stitching to be quite stylish and eye catching, particularly when the fabric is not not your standard blue denim, but rather a woven twill of an entirely different color.

For this class I’m using Vogue 7481 and this fabric:

I’m working on the muslin right now…can anyone tell me how little I can do to get the fit right? (I will not be interfacing, and will likely only pin the zipper in, and I’ll be basting the pieces together…anything else I can leave out? Hm…pockets…)
