Without further ado:

Top to bottom, left to right: Red matte jersey for a dress (Lucy’s) and onionskin swirl (EOS), red/offwhite specks (this is my most favorite fabric), Horse bit jersey from Gorgeous Fabrics, wool twill (enough for skirt, pants or jacket), stretch woven (pants).
This just leaves the browns…what do you guys think so far? What are the holes in my stash collection? I definitely need some knits!

Here are my fabulous black and white winter fabrics:

Top to bottom, left to right:
Sweater knit (EOS, onionskin (EOS), coat wool, Pendleton herringbone (enough for skirt/slacks), gorgeous sweater-y black & white woven from Textile Studios (snuggly jacket!), and black matte jersey (Lucy’s Fabrics).
I ADORE these fabrics…it’s going to be hard to prioritize my projects!

According to Pauline Weston Thomas of Fashion-Era (thanks LauraLo for this resource!), purple is the “it” color this fall…which is great for me, because I have some fabulous plummy fabrics just aching to be stitched up.
I offer the following into evidence:

From left to right, top to bottom: Gorgeous Anni Kuan mauve/plum woven (for slacks), deep plum woven (enough for suit), puckered Baby Lulu plaid, pink/plum swirly onionskin, crepe backed satin (enough for skirt and cami top) and complementary olives - dark olive woven (for jeans or jacket) and water repellent fabric for trench coat!
In the next few days I’ll be posting my collection of black & white fabrics, my reds and the browns…I’ll be looking for feedback on what fabrics to include in my fall wardrobe, so comment away!
(And I’m happy to provide additional photos, if different configurations of fabrics help to narrow down the choices.)

Taking my cue from fashion mags and fashion history, I compiled my idea of the “top 10 wardrobe must-haves” - most of which have some kind of iconic status in fashion, or are generally considered wardrobe staples). In some instances, I will adhere to the traditional model for the clothing item (i.e. the trench coat, the Chanel jacket), but with others, I’ll be looking to put my own twist on the icon (i.e. blue jeans that are neither blue, nor denim, but do have the jeans top stitching and rivet details).
1. The Trench Coat
2. The White Blouse
3. Black Slacks
4. The Little Black Dress
5. Blue Jeans
6. The T-Shirt
7. The Pencil Skirt
8. The Wrap Dress
9. The Power Suit
10. The Chanel Jacket
Patterns, fabric and inspiration pix to follow! What would YOU include on a list of Top Ten Wardrobe must-haves?

Well, despite my vowing that I was shunning jeans from my momiform, I find myself in Pattern Review’s “Build Better Jeans” class led by Shannon Gifford. Naturally, two classes in, I find myself about 8 classes behind, but the material we’re getting in class is fabulous, and will allow me to create great looking pants with jeans-styling.
Even though I’m sick of wearing jeans every day (which is what prompted me to create my “Garden Party” swap this summer), I do like the close fit of jeans, and I find the top stitching to be quite stylish and eye catching, particularly when the fabric is not not your standard blue denim, but rather a woven twill of an entirely different color.
For this class I’m using Vogue 7481 and this fabric:

I’m working on the muslin right now…can anyone tell me how little I can do to get the fit right? (I will not be interfacing, and will likely only pin the zipper in, and I’ll be basting the pieces together…anything else I can leave out? Hm…pockets…)

I’m finally dusting off my sad little blog and hope to use it to share my adventures in sewing, knitting, cooking and housekeeping (i.e. keeping it all together!).
Some of the features I’m considering for the blog are:
1. WIP Wednesday
2. Stash Showcase (or…What does this fabric want to be?)
3. UFO Sitings
4. Knittin’ Pretty
5. Fall Wardrobe
6. Winter Wardrobe
7. Sew Alongs - Trench, Wardrobe, Chanel jacket
8. Pattern Showcase
9. PR Reviews
10. Recipes
11. Sewing Bookshelf
12. Pattern Picks (from the season’s current offerings)
13. Photo Friday
I hope to roll some of these out this week, so remember…comment early and often! :)

Okay - Working on the Threads bootleg pants - in corduroy. They are not yet complete…no waistband, legs not hemmed and the seat is just basted (for fitting purposes)…but here they are so far!

Here is the chocolate/plum brocade I’m using as the lining for my princess seam coat. I don’t know if the brocade has an official up or down, so I’m putting it out to the wisdom of the Internet sewing community…Heart or spade?

Thanks to the lovely ladies from the Timmel SWAP thread on Artisan’s Guild, I was able to complete my velvet top in time for New Year’s Eve. :)
This pattern was quite the adventure:
* new fabric - stretch velvet
* new pattern - v-neck (plus, I’ve never made a top…okay, 4th grade home ec)
* new techniques - understitching, twin needle
I think I can safely say now that I ahbor facings - especially the 2+ inch wide ones included in this pattern (and many home patterns?). I believe someone from the thread recommended a Marcy Tilton book for alternatives to facings. Must find this book! The wide facings look SOOO happy hands.
Oooh - and the best part? I made the skirt in this photo! All the seams are flat felled and top stitched, the kick pleat and hem are blind hem stitched. Fits like a dream. I’ve never worn an outfit entirely made by me before! Very cool!

SWAP 2007
Here we go!
(Note on the SWAP story board - on the bottoms - I finished the denim skirt in November - I am counting this as my “previously made” item. The flannel lined pants are not yet finished (they were just started on Dec. 1) but I basted up the seat so I could try them on. The lining is also not yet attached, so if you think they look too bulky, let me know. (I will try to add reasonably sized photos soon!)
